Victoria Veins

Not too long ago I became a fan of VICTORIA VEINS, she has a very distinct look that places her in a category all her own in the world of alternative high end fashion modelling. Speaking with Victoria you discover she has a cool confidence; add to that steely determination, intelligence, a work ethic Anna Wintour would be proud of makes her a lady to watch.

How do you define your style and what inspires it?

My style is dark and vampy- I can be found in six inch heels and tight little numbers that are 99% black- Ever since I saw the original Morticia from The Addams Family, Carolyn Jones, I knew I had to have long black hair.

I know you’re an Alexander McQueen fan, where were you when you heard of his passing? How did it affect you?

I have a little thing for shoes, so I adore his avant garde heels as well as his many collections. He was a great artist and his passing was unfortunate.

You’ve been a model for over seven years, what first attracted you to modelling?

I would have been about 13 and initially had a passion for performance arts, I then discovered I really enjoyed expressing that through modelling- having a chance to make a statement and run wild with ideas enticed me

Describe your work ethic.

I strive to be professional in all I do, being prompt and giving it my best and working cohesively with the team- producing quality is key.

How did you get into professional Alternative Fetish Fashion Modelling? Was the transition from ‘regular model’ to fetish model difficult?

The transition was quite smooth, I found my love of latex and alternative fashion had to be photographed and it grew from there! There are many different levels of fetish in which I had to discover my place and it took some time for high end fetish to be the chosen niche.

Did you have any initial fears getting into it?

I have always been a pretty fearless girl, I trusted my instinct and judgement and researched well enough to be able to feel totally comfortable.

Are your family supportive of your career choice?

They are, they support me in all I do and know that I aim for the best.

You have Greek heritage, do you find that your ethnicity adds to your unique look?

Definitely, most people cannot guess my heritage at first, it contributes to the exotic feel I’m told I have.

What does Fetish Fashion Modelling mean to you?

It means I can express myself in any way I like, the creativity is endless, it is a way to capture art and it keeps me sane!

What is your favourite aspect of Fetish Fashion Modelling?

The latex! as well as the freedom and I look forward to seeing what I can come up with next to push the boundaries with my body and concept.

What is one of your favourite experiences so far?

Even though shooting on location in rubber can be difficult it tends to bring my favourite experiences. While in Melbourne I did a shoot on a public bridge in a tiny rubber number, I was shoulder standing while big groups of football teams jogged through, happy families with their kids and boats going past with their digital cameras. I couldn’t stop giggling and I think I enjoyed the voyeurism in the people.

Do you ever get nervous on shoots?

No, usually not, I think it’s the Thespian in me that comes out, there is always excitement, it is my favourite thing to do.

How and when did you come up with your stage name?

It would have been a few years ago, it came together thanks to my vamp enthusiasm and I found the most intense parts of my favourite vampire novels included the word veins, it grew on me!

What is your career focus right now? What are your aspirations? Is there anything else you’d like to branch out into?

An overseas trip is in the works, I can’t wait to travel and meet me fellow fetishistas. I would love to branch out into publishing a book of images or series one day and I might even design some latex.

Whether it’s your taste in art, film, music or literature it seems to lean toward the darker side of things. Where did this attraction come from?

Welcome to the dark side! It’s more fun over here! I feel the works of say Edgar Allan Poe and fellow dark poets speak an honesty. I love all things spooky—it’s Halloween every day! The attraction would have started when I was very young but it stuck with me and I’m never turning back!

Walk me through a day in your life when you’ve got a shoot booked.

I will make sure everything is set and the whole team is on board, I don’t have any lead up rituals other then getting good sleep. On the shoot day I make sure I stretch out my body, Hair & Makeup time, dressed and lubed/shiny. Once dolled up I just have to let the inner vixen come out!

Do you think you will eventually move overseas for work? What’s business like for an alternative fetish model in Australia?

I can’t wait to travel overseas I am not sure if I will move but once there I could fall in love with the place! Australia has a great growing alternative community there are some gems over here and I hope the business will expand in Australia.

I’ve heard that you are also a trained actress! Where did you study? In terms of film who would you love to work with?

I was enrolled in every kids acting course and spent some time with the Australian Acting Academy and Film and TV international. All throughout school I only looked forward to drama class.

For his pure unique vision an original film by Tim Burton, I think we would get along nicely or Quentin Tarantino, love his work.

If you weren’t a model, what would you be doing?

I can’t imagine life any other way! I could of been a writer, circus freak, mortician or ghost hunter for all I know. All of which I wouldn’t mind trying out!

Favourite band? KoRn

Favourite film? It’s so hard to pick just one! some are Beetlejuice, The Lost Boys, Edward Scissor Hands, Cruel Intentions

Favourite magazine? Any with top quality images and great fashion inside

Favourite designer? Designer rubber fiends such as Atsuko Kudo

Favourite food? Home Greek roast lamb and veggies—to die for!

Favourite drink? My best friend and I came across a cocktail one night: Black Heart. Yum!

Your schedule seems to be never-ending. How do you prepare yourself for all the madness and maintain your cool?

Music! I am attached to my Ipod and it prepares me, bubble baths, seeing friends and a good movie night are great ways to relax.

What are the things that matter most to you?

Life experiences, at the end of the day I want to experience as much as i can all over the world I want to see and do things out of the norm and have great stories to tell wearing latex and six inch heels all along the way!
