Yay! I have some kick ass weekend reading to share with you guys! The new issue of No Cure Magazine is now online. If you’re not sure what No Cure is (?) peep this: No Cure Magazine: A Cutting-edge Look-book of Inspiration, Colour & Only the Best Design.
This issue features a 10-page interview feature with Brisbane rockers, Violent Soho (!) written by yours truly. It’s my debut piece for the mag. There’s also a Q&A with artist Callum Preston (the guy behind awesome art for bands like Parkway Drive, The Amity Affliction and more). Callum created the art for Violent Soho’s latest release, double A-side single Tinderbox/Neighbour Neighbour.
Here’s a little preview of the interviews:
Violent Soho guitarist James Tidswell on their latest film clip:
We just rocked up and had a BBQ and some beers while people cruised around getting drunk and stoned. We got some of our mate’s to skate around a bit. The idea was to make it feel like a typical afternoon in QLD. We are proud of where we are from so we just wanted to really get the ‘Sunshine State’ feeling across. Afternoon parties are rad and people skate, smoke bongs and jump off roofs into above ground pools up here so we just put all that in a video.
Artist Callum Preston on his influences:
Skate culture, I grew up from age 4 loving skateboarding, then in around Grade 5 I discovered punk rock and heavy music, so those two things combined had a huge bearing on my artistic style.
