It was a fun weekend! I had a blast at the launch for Dark Moon Pop-Up Art Space. Lovingly curated by visual artist Michelle Agius the event  featured 21 local artists including Joy French, Filthy The Bear, Seabastion Toast, Nila Vanwolf, Sundari Vanwolf, Dominique Falla and Sharon Hindle, Sam Dennis and more; fashion and jewellery by Dr Boink, Lime Zest Funky Threads, Spider & Fly and The Tarantin too, as well as audio treasure from the folks at Flamedog Records (specialising in producing & releasing a wide range of material from the extended global Gong family) – Dark Moon stocks releases by independent artists so get in touch if you are a muso/have a band.

DJ Boutique set the party atmosphere for the night spinning wax and Mystery School (fresh from supporting Regurgitator) blew minds with a live performance.

The Dark Moon Pop-Up Art Space Gallery (and store) will be showing on the ground level of The Ambiance Building, The Esplanade Burleigh Heads, Gold Coast for the next 3-months, so check it out if you’re in the neighbourhood. Dark Moon is made possible, as part of the Gold Spaces Gold Coast urban renewal and cultural development platform, whose aim is to revive vacant and under-used spaces by connecting property developers and space owners with creative individuals and groups. The idea is that they take empty or idle shopfronts or buildings that bring “unwanted lacklustre and social deterioration to an area” and provide a platform for people to turn these dormant spaces into creative opportunities until they become commercially viable or are redeveloped. The project is designed to help empower the community to pursue entrepreneurial and culturally beneficial projects.

It was so wonderful to see so many familiar faces and meet some new ones too!
