Recently I chatted to Los Angeles punk band Barb Wire Dolls’ kick ass frontwoman Isis Queen who also happens to be the face of Foxes Cosmetics created by makeup artist Tina De La Celle. Tina believes that ‘fashion, music and makeup create decadence.’ She is also an avid animal lover—putting her love into action Foxes never test on animals and donate 5 % of all profits to various animal charities. Rock star makeup that helps animals in need! What more could you want! Support independent businesses that contribute positivity to the community. Here’s the Q&A I did with Tina.
Did you always dream of becoming a make-up artist? What inspired you?
Yes, I have wanted to be a makeup artist since i was very young. I was inspired by the monster movies of the 20s and 30s.
How did you get your start?
I got my start working as Assistant Manager of the Max Factor store in Hollywood.
How do you define ‘beauty’?
Beauty to me is someone who is confident, an individual and willing to take risks.
What is your favourite aspect of being a makeup artist?
Transformation before my eyes is amazing. I get very excited with the finished masterpiece.
Do you feel that looking and feeling beautiful is important in regard to a woman’s confidence and self-esteem?
Absolutely, you know when a woman feels like she looks beautiful the minute she walks in a room. What a great feeling that is.
I’ve hardly worn make-up at all my entire life, apart from lip gloss and glitter, it’s something that fascinates me but also feels super awkward for me… what advice would you give someone like me about makeup?
My advice [is to] play, have fun, remember there are no rules to make up. Color is your friend!
You have been a make-up artist for 20 years who is one of your favourite clients that you have ever worked with and why?
I love making up musicians. My favorite client was the French band Jad Wio. I went on tour with them in France. The singer Denis Bortek is amazing. I let me get as creative as I wanted. So much fun!

A mix of Drag Queen meets Queen of Burlesque. What sets me apart from other Makeup Artists is I believe it is ok to go overboard! Glitter and color are a must! I don’t follow trends.
What inspired you to start Foxes Cosmetics?
I was inspired by the Glam rock scene of the 70s and the movie foxes where the name came from.
I’ve read that you wanted to recreate the vibe of 70s Glam Rock – bold colours, lots of glitter – what is it about this time that attracts you most? What’s its significance to you?
[The] 1970s glam was about creating art on your face and your fashion. No one held back. Everyone wore color and glitter, boys and girls. It was a very decadent time. It was all about having fun with life.
To you, what type of person wears Foxes?
The type of lady or gentleman that wears Foxes is someone who is creative, a bit on the edge, lives life to its fullest. Not afraid to make a statement, not afraid to be her or his self. This is why Isis Queen is the face of Foxes.
What are four products from the Foxes line you’d recommend to my readers?
Southern Girls Shimmer, Red Hot Gloss, Prettiest Star Glitter, Blackmail Shimmer.
Foxes donates 5% of all profits to animal charities and the brand never ever tests on animals, have you always been passionate about animals?
Yes, I have always been a huge animal lover. If I was not a makeup artist i would have worked with animals. I want to help them as much as i can. I will be organizing various charity events to raise money for animals in the near future.
What else are you passionate about?
Music (& theater) which is another thing so great about Foxes, I get to work with bands. We are all about supporting woman in rock. As far as theater, Foxes is as theatrical as a makeup line can get, and still be worn daily.

Well within the next couple of years I want to renovate an old trailer and turn it into a mobile make up studio.
