I discovered Noize Bunny when I went to Melbourne in August for Jhonny Russell & the Mystery School shows. She performed live with Ally Oop and Ice Pick and totally blew me away with her in-your-face-attitude, confidence and brash style! It is the funnest show I’ve been too in ages! She’s about to release her debut EP Year Of The Metal Rabbit. Without a doubt there is definitely only one Noize Bunny!
What do you wear on stage?
Bunny ears. And a tail. But last week I also rocked a handmade ‘Eyeball Bra’ (pictured).
How important is your stage outfit to you?
To me its THE MOST IMPORTANT THING after my music…you gotta look and dress the part!
Make-up-wise what’s your onstage must?
Vaseline+ Black glitter under and around the eyes…gives a panda meets Chris Brown/Rihanna look… ohhh haha too far?
What’s your biggest beauty indulgence?
I really love mascara because there are so many choices and colors! An ex told he first kissed me because I was wearing pink mascara… LOL
What are your offstage outfits like?
If I’m offstage then I’m probably depressed so I’ll wear something dirty, reeking and offensive.
Who are your style icons?
I could list hundreds of artists whose style I LOVE but to be honest for me there is no one person who really influences my style, my wardrobe is schizophrenic.
What do you do creatively when you’re not creating/playing music?
Probably designing and sewing costumes for my next show! I’m actually great on the sewing machine, it must be the Asian in me.
What makes your musical style different?
Probably the angle I approach certain song topics, for example, a track off my new EP Year Of The Metal Rabbit – which is out soon – is called “Million Dollar Bit$h” and is about some of the girls I knew in high school who were obscenely rich and partied obscenely hard… but at the end of the day it didn’t matter because anything that broke, died or lost could be fixed by Daddy’s credit card…
Have you ever encountered sexism within the music community?
Yeah. I’d say people have underestimated me big time… but that all gets kicked back in their faces when they see me rock it to the death. If The Spice Girls taught me anything its that Girl Power is god.
How do you deal with the haters?
With a kiss on the lips…haters give you feedback more constructive and accurate then you ever get from your friends!
Tell me about your latest projects.
My latest project is Noize Bunny’s “Lo-Fi Ho Show” which is basically a punk-pop-rock show consisting of myself two debauched backup dancers (Gothkw33n and Violence) and Ally Oop and The Octopus Bros. I don’t know if anything this degenerate has ever been performed before but the tag line is “Sex. Drugs. And Gore Galore” so I think that sums it up nicely! It’s on @ The Noise Bar, Brunswick (Melb) on October 15, hope see you there? Ha, ha meow!
